A reptile habitat that fits the species

Heat, light, moisture and space should be planned before arrival.

General care guidance. Needs vary by species, age and health. Your veterinarian can tailor a plan for your pet.

01

Start with the exact species

A snake, turtle, chameleon and gecko need different setups. Get written targets for temperature, humidity, lighting, food and enclosure size for your animal.

Provide the correct warm and cooler areas so the reptile can choose where to rest. Confirm UVB needs and lamp placement for that species.

02

Keep a care record

Check equipment and conditions daily. Record feeding, shedding and any change in behavior.

Wash hands after touching reptiles or their equipment. Keep habitat equipment away from areas used to prepare human food.
